What can you do with a licensed boat in Roses?
With a licence, your range opens right up. You can head further offshore, reach coves that smaller boats can’t manage and set your own route without depending on anyone. Sailing the northern Costa Brava out of Roses is some of the finest cruising water in the western Mediterranean.
A few of the spots our licensed guests come back to:
Cap de Creus
45–60 minThe easternmost point of the Iberian Peninsula. A lunar landscape from the water, coves you can only reach by sea and exceptionally clear water.
Cala Culip
50 minOne of the wildest, most sheltered coves in the natural park. You can only get there by boat.
Cala Tamariua
40 minCrystal-clear water framed by volcanic rock. Rarely crowded, even in high season.
Cala Canyelles Petites
20 minA classic stop out of Roses, perfect for a swim and a snorkel.
Cala Almadraba
15 minYou can also reach it on foot, but from the water it’s a different thing altogether.
Bay of Roses
5 minIdeal for an easy morning or sunset run, with the Pyrenees in the background.
Fully private — the boat is just for you
As with everything we do, when you rent a licensed boat with Experience Boat the boat is yours alone. We never share it with other groups.
That means full freedom to choose your route, your pace and your stops without coordinating with anyone. With a proper engine and no one else aboard, Cap de Creus is under an hour from Santa Margarita.

Why rent with a licence at Experience Boat?
Four reasons our guests come back season after season.
Departing from Santa Margarita
We cast off from the Santa Margarita canals, a spot you won’t find anywhere else on the Costa Brava. No packed harbour — you leave from one of the quietest corners of Roses.
Exceptional cruising ground
The Bay of Roses and the Cap de Creus Natural Park are two of the most prized sailing areas in the western Mediterranean. Sheltered water, unspoilt coves and a landscape that sets the standard.
A well-kept fleet
Our boats aren’t brand new, but they’re in perfect working order. Practical, safe and suited to the kind of sailing this coast asks for.
Book direct, no middlemen
You talk to Salvador and the team directly, and if you need to tweak something — the date, the hours, the boat — we sort it out without any red tape.
How does renting with a licence work?

How many people fit?
It depends on the boat. Check each boat’s card for the exact capacity and length. We have boats for anywhere from 4 to 8 people.

What are the prices?
Prices vary with the boat and the season. Ask us for availability on your date.
How far ahead should I book?
In high season (July and August) we’d book at least two weeks ahead. In the shoulder season, 48–72 hours is usually enough.
Rather have a skipper aboard?
Private trips with a skipper
If you hold a licence but would rather someone else handle the boat so you can just enjoy the day, that’s an option too. These trips leave from the same Santa Margarita canals.
